I feel I have this big heart and I want to help people.   Mum and dad put me and my brother into nippers at Alexandra Headland on the Sunshine Coast when I was six. Ever since that my lifestyle has been geared towards helping people and saving lives. As a lifesaver, that attitude is ingrained in you from a very young age.   I’m fit, healthy and willing to help so I decided to build on that and make a career in the fire brigade. The first time I tried out was while I was trialling for the 2016 Olympics. I didn’t make the cut for the ‘fireys’ but I qualified for my first Olympic Team.   I see a lot of similarities in being a ‘firey’ and an Olympic kayaker. Teamwork is a massive cross over between the two.
